Irish News – Motorists are more concerned about cost of Car Insurance than the Policing of Roads

New research by the AA Motor Insurance has revealed that Motorists are more concerned about the rising costs of Car Insurance than Gardaí policing the roads.

In a survey of over 8,800 motorists, 92% of people said that the biggest concern they had for the year was the cost of their car insurance. In contrast, only 50% of people felt like the level of Gardaí activity on Irish roads is a concern.

The director of consumer affairs at the AA has said, “The rising cost of car insurance is a major frustration for Irish motorists and due to its legal obligation, motorists have no choice but to pay the costs. We have seen an increase of almost 40% in under as little as 24 months which the AA regards as unacceptable burden on motorists.”

Road safety ranked in second as the most common concern for motorists at 87%, while the need to repair damaged roads comes in third at 77%.
